This week’s rig count reflects a notable decline in drilling activity across the board. The United States saw a drop of 7 rigs, bringing the total to 583—down 34 rigs from this time last year. Canada’s rig count dropped by 15, now standing at 138, which is also 3 rigs fewer than the same time last year. International rig activity also trended downward, falling by 6 rigs to 899, marking a significant 72-rig decline compared to the previous year.

These shifts may indicate cautious sentiment across the energy sector as companies balance capital discipline with fluctuating commodity prices. While the broader market reassesses drilling strategies, operators remain focused on high-efficiency development and risk mitigation in project planning.
